Our F-litter is today 1 year old! These clever youngsters have exciting year ahead of them in field and trials. But today we celebrated in our local dog spa. Minttu (F.Fame), Marge (F.Fink) and Vilma (F.Fay) with their friends and Mom-Viivi had a splashing good time!

We have decided to mate our Viivi - FI WCH Zebulons Windy Peg with Lyckos - Gunhills Jubilee Sensation. This will be Viivi's last litter and we are very happy to have found such a nice male for her. Lyckos is soon three year old swedish male. He has had one start in hunting test gaining beginnersclass 1st prize and he has open class 1st prize in working test. He is healthy (hips A/A, elbows 0/0, eyes ok) good-looking lad, who also has reserve certificate from shows and beginners class 1st prize in obedience.

Finnish Flatcoated Retrievers Society is awarding Topi (Filurin Vellu-Vermutti ) as the best working flatcoated retriever in 2011! Topi got results in working dogs search and tracking test and also in rescue dogs tracking. They had a great year. Topi got straight with only two tests from the first class to the third class and two 1st prizes in 3rd class now only needing one 1st prize to be a champion in working dogs search. Huge congratulations to Topi and Jossu, you are so good!

Hunting Test Result to Iitu

Our dachshund Iitu started this years official test and trial season in hunting test. She went through of 90 minutes match with a raccoon dog and got approved result in cave hunting test. Now we hope for another opportunity to Iitu to prove her quality in real hunting test. Fingerscrossed to have standard filling place and a judge, so we can get third championtitle for Iitu.

Foxi (F.Fox) has been in dog show and she got HP (honour prize) from puppy class and got placed as 2nd! Congratulations Marie and Foxi! Also Foxi's brother Merlin (F.Fellow) have been in show earlier and he got placed 4th amongst seven puppies! Congrats!

Finnish Championships for rescue dogs teams

Topi (JK1 HK3 F. Vellu-Vermutti) has been a part of silver winning team in Finnish Championships for rescuedogs! This two days long trial included obedience and different searching tasks for the dogs and also help and rescue tasks for the handlers. So the team really works as a team! Our most true congratulations to Johanna and Topi! Maybe someday Topi will actually save someone :)

Topi's sister Helmi (F. Villi-Viini) got 2nd prize in hunting test B. Only minus was that she dropped a few birds to her handlers feet. Well done Kaisu and Helmi!

Finnish Champion 2011 !!!

Hurray for Vallu (F. Veli-Ventti) and Antti !!! They won Finnish Championships for Narcotic Dogs. In championships they go through a three day trial of obedience, tracking and different narcotic search tasks. Championships are for narcotic dogs, which are working for police, customs and border guard. Vallu is working for police. Huge congratulations!

Flatcoats Championships 2011

Our very talented Nalli (Zebulons Forever Dorado) got 1st prize in open class and was rewarded as a best open class dog! He was also qualified to the finale. He did splendid job in the finale as a youngest dog there against winners class dogs, but unfortunately he didn't retrieve a brown hare. But such a good work done by them! Congratulations Jarmo and Nalli!!!

Viivi's son Jippo (F.Viski-Vihtori) was in beginners class and worked nicely, but no prize this time, cause he didn't pick up one crow. I'm sure we'll hear again of this outstanding young male.

New championship!

Our own dachshund Iitu (Usvasuon Sirkku) has been in watergame test (test for terriers and standard dachshunds) this season now four times and all those four tests she has gone through with excellent performance showing good obedience, search work, tracking and retrieving. So she has gained four 1st prizes and had every time highest points. Those results added to our last seasons results she now has six 1st prizes and is clearly a champion (three 1st prizes required) and now we can add title KVA-V to her name. We are very happy about her and her strong working will, which makes it so nice to train and compete with her!

No puppies in the house

Now have all our dachs pups left for their new homes. It's sort of nice and quiet now, but we sure do miss them allready. Hope to see them a lot in the future. They were all so perfectly dachshund like. Good luck to your new homes Sirkku, Ruusu, Riitu, Rene, Rokka and both Messi's.

Puppy training weekend

It was time for the F-litter (and Sylvi) to come together for work and play. It was so nice to see the pups again together and they are all so promising! We had 4 out of 7 pups (Minttu, Nemo, Marge and Vilma) gathered together and Sylvi. Within two days we had basic retriever training and obedience, introduced game, had steadiness training in the boat, did some blood tracking, took pictures and lots and lots of play. The main thing of course was to have nice time together swimming, eating and talking. Thank you all who came! A few pictures below:

Flatcoats summercamp 2011

Camp was kept in Pomarkku 10-14th of July. Four days of training and with Viivi and Minttu we took part in Jo and Richars Hewison's (kennel Casblaidd) training. I am happy to have get to know about their training methods. If you listened with a thought, I think you got much out of them. Thank you! We have some differences about how we do things, but much is also the same. They had a really nice way to train with a respect to the dog and sharing a lot of the ideology behind the training, not just do some excercises.

Our very own Viivi was in Richards group. She started a bit off the hand, but after gathering the reins, she did some really nice marks and lines. As allways she was nice companion in training being steady and quiet. Just water work seems to nowadays get her to be a bit too restless. Maybe we should train more (and throw tennisballs in the water a bit less) :) At the age of six she has a lot of speed and fun when working and cause that it's a joy to train her.

Minttu took part in Richard's and Jo's puppytraining. We did basic things, holding the dummy, recall, steadiness, waiting, heel-work etc. It was nice to see her to be able to consentrate with other puppies around.

Most joyfull it was to see Minttu's litter mates Merlin, Marge and Väiski. All are promising and very nice puppies. Also Viivi's offspring from the earlier litter were at the camp. Topi and Jippo were also in training and with was so nice to see them work. It's easy to see that their owners have done good job with them! Topi is being very precise when working and what a speed Jippo has!!! Both have qualities I look for in a flatcoat.

Puppies from F-litter: Merlin, Marge, Minttu ja Väiski

Our Villitiimi (Wildteam, an old name travelling back in history to the original wildteam to year 2003(?) with my late Tahvo- Chiccoxen Bashful Bumpkin and Pipa's Masu - Chiccoxen All By My Self) did very well in the camp. We won the camp competition! And Henna's Oodi won the speedrace!

Our team really marveled in the open show (judge Jo Hewison). First our puppies got nice placements in baby pups, Väiski and Minttu were 2nd in class. Then in working class males Jippo was 1st and Topi 3rd(?). In the BIS-ring, Henna's Oodi was BIS2 and Jippo (F. Viski-Vihtori) BIS4 (best placement for males!). Huge congratulations!

Great results from V-litter boys

Topi (F. Vellu-Vermutti) has again been in search trial and done excellent work! With his handler Jossu they got 283p, which means 1st prize and HK3-title! Yes we are very proud!!! What a start they've had straight to 3rd class this season and result from tracking also. Aren't they clever!

Helmi in Hunting Test B

Helmi (F. Villi-Viini) took part in beginners class in Ylikiiminki hunting test. She together with her handler Kaisu managed to get 3rd prize with very nice work! Helmi still has little bit work to do in returning the game (it's not good to bathe with the game..) and they both need some work in blind retrieves. But well done!

Dachs puppies six weeks old!

Our lovely, curious and brave R-puppies are now 6 weeks. They are promising litter and I am happy about them! They are very much dachshund like when they play together. They have had their first trip to forest by car and I've introduced some game to them, bird wings, rabbit and deer legs, raccoondog furs and they are excited! Two boys are still available. Topi in Working Dogs Search Trial

Our handsome and clever Topi (BH JK1 HK2 F. Vellu-Vermutti) with his handler/owner Jossu have again been in search trial. They got 268 points, so it's 2nd prize and they got that training marking, that they were there for. So it's HK2 and up to the next class. Congratulations!

Dachs puppies 3 weeks

Our R-litter is now 3 weeks old. They have started to eat puppyfood and have been wormed once. All are SO cute and lovely. Some character differences are starting to show as the puppies grow and stand out more of an individuals than a group. New pictures can be found in filurin.kuvat.fi . We still have unreserved male puppies in this litter. We are expecting these puppies to become strong hunters and lovely companions!

Our retriever club's festive weekend

Local retriever club is now 35 years old! What a party it was! We had tests and trials and banquet. Viivi (Zebulons Windy Peg) and Little-Minttu (Filurin Fame) was taking part in festivities. On friday Viivi was in bloodtracking test, but no result. Too windy for my Windy Peg... she tracks nose up and was too far from the track too many times. Saturday it was hunting test and this time wind was good for us. Viivi got winners class 2nd prize. All went well, but she missed one mark. She was also tested in characters test and she got quite high points 236. I wouldn't have believed it, but I should have known.. she is steady, strong worker and brave. Why wouldn't she get high points... Viivi just is my little girl :) You can watch part of the test here.

F. Vellu-Vermutti has again gained result in working dogs trial. This time he participated in search test. He got 232 points and HK1-title. Perhaps not their best day, but result anyway and Topi is now BH JK1 HK1 Filurin Vellu-Vermutti.

Little Foxi has a new home

Topi was in rescue dogs tracking test yesterday. He did the obedience and tracking, finding all 5 sticks and goal man. Result PAJÄ approved! We are so proud of this young man! Congratulations Jossu and Topi!

First puppy has opened it's eyes. They all have now also new puppy collars. Boys are black, green, blue and brown, girls are red, yellow and purple. All are growing well and have doubled their weight.

Viivi (Zebulons Windy Peg) got open class 3rd prize in bloodtracking. Her daughter Helmi (F.Villi-Viini) got no result. It was hot and Viivi is still not in her best physical shape after puppies and windy weather is allways bad for her, cause she tends to track nose up. Helmi stopped working after first section.

Viivi's son Topi (F.Vellu-Vermutti) on the other hand did nice work and tracked in working dogs tracking test PAJÄ2 prize. Well done Topi!

Dachshund litter is born!

Our first little dachs are born today. We got 4 males and 3 females. All seem to be ok. This litter is sired by FI WCH-L FI HCH Track-Action Zami and dame is our own lovely FI WCH-L Usvasuon Sirkku also called Iitu.
